Tasting note
The Schioppettino glows in a dark ruby red. On the nose, an aromatic potpourri of ripe cherries, red berries, green pepper, sweet spices and some licorice delights. On the palate, the wine is velvety and elegant with aromas of red and black berries, ripe plums, spicy accents and some pepper. The tannins are well-balanced and perfectly integrated, the acidity refreshing and the aftertaste long-lasting and mineral. A powerful, complex yet very elegant red wine that will positively surprise many wine lovers.

Vinification
Schioppettino is an ancient, autochthonous grape variety from Friuli. It is mainly grown in the municipality of Prepotto. It was virtually lost for a long time before it celebrated a renaissance since the 1960s and is now one of the most famous grape varieties in the region. The organically cultivated grapes are picked by hand and fermented spontaneously. It is aged in French barriques for almost 18 months before the wine is bottled and aged in the bottle for a further few months.
