Tasting note
The Fransola Sauvignon Blanc glows in the glass in a very fine, bright yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, it smells intensely of tropical fruits, elderflowers, lemons. Typical of a Sauvignon Blanc from warmer zones. Beautifully creamy and quite full on the palate (due to the barrique aging), balanced by crunchy acidity. Here are some cool climate notes, nice, harsh and herbal impressions. Complex with an extremely long aftertaste. A beautiful and elegant food companion with a good balance of freshness and fullness. Perfect with fish or vegetarian dishes.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: Drink this white wine at slightly chilled 10°-12°C. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: Now until 2015. Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: It goes well with white meat, fish and mussels.
Vinification
The isolated location of Fransola with its historic estate is located in one of the highest areas of the Penedès. Cold nights and mild days provide excellent climate conditions for winegrowing, particularly for Sauvignon Blanc. A small amount of parellada gives the cuvée its fine character. The wine underwent further refinement through 6 months of aging in French and American barrique barrels, 50% of which was new.
