About the wine
The winemaker from the Italian winery Leone de Castris is absolutely proficient in his craft. Style and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the blooming and sunny countryside of Puglia. With the distinctive Negroamaro 2013 — Salice Salentino Riserva Per Lui DOC, nuances and accents are redefined. Tasting note
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Complex and intense aromas of ripe red fruits, cherries, blackberries and plums, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper, licorice and roasted wood. Thanks to the aging in wood, subtle vanilla and cocoa notes are also noticeable. On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied and structured, with soft and well-integrated tannins. The taste is rich and persistent, with aromas of ripe red fruits, spices and a pleasant minerality. The aftertaste is long and enveloping and features a subtle balsamic note that enhances its complexity.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with grilled red meat, game, roasts and aged cheese. It is also wonderful with first courses with meat sauces and traditional Apulian dishes such as pasta with lamb stew or eggplant-based dishes.
