About the wine

Like its older brother Brunello di Montalcino, the lighter Rosso di Montalcino is also made from Brunello grapes. The difference lies in the age of the vines, in the location of the vineyard and is also underlined by the selection of grapes. And in such a way that Brunello is decidedly powerful, has a high shelf life with a stately tannin structure and takes a longer maturation period to even reach drinking maturity. Rosso is different, it is a bit lighter, more accessible, flattering even in its youth, because it is also pressed for a shorter period of time to curb the tannin content.

Il Poggione is one of Montalcino's most traditional wineries; the wines from this cellar have been among the finest for decades.
