About the wine
The winemaker from the Spanish winery Bodegas Palacios Remondo is absolutely proficient in his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the picturesque and fertile landscape of the Upper Ebro. We have a special, provocative Merlot from 2010 for you, which is a source of enthusiasm among many wine connoisseurs. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Merlot with duck or poultry.

Tasting note
Its variety of aromas impresses with notes of ripe plums, dried fruits, Arabic spices, licorice and the fine scent of mocha, vanilla and sandalwood from the timber. Its intense taste is accompanied by supple tannins that appear silky and soft on the palate. This taste experience of a great Rioja lasts with a long aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Rioja Reserva Especial passt bestens zu Ente, leicht scharfem, rotem Fleisch und Geflügel. Unsere Empfehlung: Trinken Sie diesen Rotwein bei leicht gekühlten 16°-18°C. Im folgenden Zeitraum liegt die empfohlene Genussphase dieses Weins: 8-10 Jahre nach der Ernte.
Vinification
Die Vinifikation fand wie folgt statt: Optimal gereift gelesen werden die Trauben gemahlen und dann auf der Maische in 5000-Liter-Eichenfässern vergoren, um möglichst viele Aromastoffe und Tannine herausholen zu können. Zum weiteren Ausbau und zur Reife wird die Selección Especial in zu 90% neuen Barriques (80% F/20% USA) für weitere 16 Monate gelagert. Nach der schonenden Abfüllung, der Wein wird vorher nicht gefiltert, verbleibt der Wein noch eine längere Zeit in den Kellern der Bodega, bevor er auf den Markt gebracht wird.
