Tasting note
It shines with a wonderful purple color of great intensity. On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruit with integrated subtle nuances of wood. These are noticeable in the nose as violets, jasmine, cloves, pepper and vanilla. Continue with secondarily noticeable complex aromas of roasted coffee and leather. The taste is powerful yet elegant with a very good depth structure. Also with notes of black fruit, chocolate and coffee aromas. It has a very long, silky surface and although very intense in volume, it is still very easy and delicate to drink.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty dishes with beef, game, lamb, wild boar.
Vinification
The wine consists mainly of Tempranillo with a touch of Garnacha from almost 100 year old vines (these were planted in 1920). The wine is carefully picked by hand and processed in 500-600 liter wooden barrels (bocoyes). This gives you complete control of all important parameters such as cold and heat). The battonage is of course done by hand. In general, technical aids are avoided so that the wine is aged as gently as possible. The Pontac de Portilles is then aged in specially selected French barriques for 20 months and then bottled.
