About the wine
This strong red wine 2016 — Nero d'Avola Sicilia IGT crowns every festive meal with elegance and finesse. Blooming and fertile landscapes in Sicily give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Cusumano conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Flaschenpöstler culinary tip: This Nero d'Avola is ideal to serve with risotto or pasta.
Tasting note
Deep ruby red with purple reflections. Intense and fruity, dominated by notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and blackberry, with delicate notes of Mediterranean spices, red flowers and a touch of aromatic herbs. Dry, balanced and harmonious, with good structure and soft tannins. The palate is enveloped by aromas of plums, black cherries and a slightly spicy note. Long and persistent aftertaste with pleasant freshness that enhances the typical Sicilian minerality.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with grilled meats, eggplant-based dishes such as Parmigiana, semi-ripe cheese and traditional Mediterranean dishes. Also ideal for delicious first courses and second courses with fried meat.
Vinification
The harvest is done by hand, followed by maceration at a controlled temperature, which removes the best aromas and tannins from the vine. Aged in steel for a few months to preserve the freshness and authenticity of Nero d'Avola.
