About the wine

In the past, people drank Ticino Merlot while it was still soft and young. Claudio Tamborini, however, recognized the potential of this grape variety and wanted to exploit it. In the 1970s, he developed from a wine merchant to a wine producer. He took vineyards under his wing around his headquarters in Lamone near Lugano, in Comano, Vico Morcote, Neggio, Castelrotto and also in Gudo in Sopra Ceneri. Today, the wine production and trading company Tamborini, founded in 1944, cultivates over 32 hectares of vineyards. They deliver half of the production, the second half is bought by Tamborini, from the best locations in Tessin. However, they are all vinified in our own winery in Lamone, from tasty Poggiosolivo to prime wines such as Comano. Claudio Tamborini's team, who continued his education in Boreaux, among others, included oenologist Bruno Bernasconi in 1988.
