About the wine
The Langhe Nebbiolo vines come from the Basarin Cru vineyard in the Neive area. It is a historic and very prestigious vineyard. Its location on the border between Neive and Treiso, together with the high altitude, give the wines a special spicy note with a touch of licorice, as well as great complexity and a remarkable structure. The vines are still very young, around 14-15 years old, and for this reason the wine is not yet able to develop the wealth of polyphenols and aromas that such an important cru location as this should have. For this reason, the wine does not appear as Barbaresco DOCG but as Langhe Nebbiolo. If that is not an argument!
Tasting note
An expressive Langhe Nebbiolo with Barbaresco soul — juicy, precise and full of expression. The 2023 comes 100% from the Barbaresco Bazarin location and is floral, fragrant and crystal-clear. Rose petals, ripe strawberries, lavender, mint, cedarwood, blood orange and a touch of crushed stone characterize the bouquet. Silky, fresh and finely worked on the palate, with soft tannins, lots of juice and a mineral-cool finish. Total harmony! This wine has everything you can expect from a typical Nebbiolo terroir. A characterful, elegant mini Barbaresco full of charm, depth and finesse. A real highlight in this category.
Vinification
Grapes from almost 20-year-old vines from the “Vigna del Parroco” (pastor's vineyard) in Barbaresco-Cru Basarin in Neive; vinification in steel tanks, 35 days (!) on the shells, aged for a few months in large Gamba wooden barrels.
