About the wine

La Musa is a so-called “brand”, i.e. a strictly selected selection of various wooden barrels from Cantina Sociale Valpolicella. Cantina Sociale Valpolicella was founded in 1933 with the background that small manufacturers could not keep up with the steady progress in order to equip their cellars with the necessary technical equipment and adapt to steadily increasing trade needs. Today, Cantina Sociale Valpolicella has expanded its production activities to 200 winegrowers with a total of 450 ha of vineyards located in the hills of classic Valpolicella. The cantina is based in Negrar. From vinification to storage to bottling, the entire production process is covered with a total capacity of around 80,000 hl.

Tasting note
Intense ruby red with slight garnet reflections. Complex and sophisticated aromas with notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and plum, enriched by spicy notes of black pepper and a slight nuance of vanilla and tobacco. Dry, soft and well-structured, with velvety tannins and good persistence. On the palate, there are notes of red fruits, sweet spices and a touch of cocoa. The freshness and light taste make the wine balanced and pleasant to drink.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat, roasts, pot roasts and game. It also goes well with mature cheese and structured first courses such as pasta with meat sauce or mushroom risotto.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. The wine goes through a “ripasso” process, in which the young wine is fermented on Recioto or Amarone pomace, which gives it more structure and complexity. The refinement takes place in oak barrels for approx. 12 months.
