About the wine
The Nino Negri winery was founded in 1897 and is considered one of the leading companies in the Valtellina region. The vines cultivated on the mountain slopes have found an ideal habitat thanks to mineral soils, excellent ventilation and optimal sunlight. Nino Negri no longer filled its wines into barrels, but into bottles, which allowed the wines to be distributed within a narrow local context at an early stage. However, Nino's son Carluccio Negri gave the decisive impetus by restructuring the company. Today, the modern and well-organized winery with its 38 hectares of vineyards is synonymous with top quality Valtellina wines.

Tasting note
The small appellation (48 ha) Inferno is one of the most impressive and steepest locations in the Vetlin. Natural processes and traditional style complement each other perfectly in this wine. For centuries, Valtellina has produced a wine that is characterized by its typical aromas (red berries, wild berries, mushrooms, spices, nuts and mineral notes), its strong, tannic structure and its fruity finish: an attractive alternative to Nebbiolo wines from Piedmont.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with charcuterie, bresaola, mashed potatoes, roast beef and roast pork.
Vinification
Aged for two months in stainless steel tanks and then in traditional, large oak barrels for 18 months and in the bottle for a further four months
