Chianti Classico Terrazze San Leolino Gran Sel. DOCG/bc 2022 - Fontodi

The first mention of the vineyard around the former small monastery dates back to 1450 and was already registered back then as Cru, i.e. a vineyard with a precise location name, entered on old maps. Giovanni Manetti, boss and owner of Azienda Fontodi, came across this long-neglected gem by chance, was able to purchase the entire plot of land, including a small vineyard created over 50 years ago with an old clone of Sangiovese. At the turn of the century, Manetti had the vineyard expanded and only now has he bottled the first vintage, consisting of grapes from the old and part of the new vineyard. It is a wine of great stature, delicate fruitiness, Sangiovese at its best with a racy acidity well embedded in lots of juicy melts.
