About the wine

Fattoria Lornano has been owned by the Pozzoli family since 1904. The estate is located in the Chianti area, on the hills of Castellina in the municipality of Monteriggioni. The farm has a total area of 180 ha, of which 49 ha are planted with vines. 80% of Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and only a small proportion of the white varieties Trebbiano and Malvasia are grown. In 2010, Nicolò and Galileo Pozzoli, the fourth generation of the family, restructured the vineyards together with oenologists Franco and Matteo Bernabei, and a new barrique cellar and warehouse were also built. Fattoria Lornano does not use chemical fertilisers or herbicides. The grapes are processed in a modern wine cellar, and the maturation takes place in the wine cellar located completely below ground level, protected from abrupt temperature fluctuations. In 2013, Lornano was one of the first wine producers of the newly founded “Gran Selezione” consortium.
