About the product

The Highland Park distillery is located on the Orkney Islands off the northernmost tip of Scotland. Magnus Eunson, butcher and church worker by day, smuggler by night, distilled in a small hut near High Park with a view of Kirkwall — where the distillery still stands today. Officially, Highland Park was founded in 1798, but in reality this was the year in which the authorities were finally able to arrest Magnus — whiskey had already been distilled before. With the exception of smuggling, little has changed since then. Highland Park has remained true to the high quality standards of its founder for over 220 years now. The following five cornerstones are decisive: aromatic peat from the Hobbister Moor, our own hand-operated barn malting plant, exquisite sherry oak barrels, barrel aging under ideal conditions in a temperate island climate and slow barrel harmonization. These five pillars make Highland Park one of the best single malts in the world. The characterful whiskeys are characterized by a subtle, smoky sweetness and still pay tribute to their Viking roots today.

Tasting note
Cask Strength was bottled at cask strength, which gives the whiskey exceptional depth, complexity and balance. American sherry casks of different ages were mainly used for this special bottling.
Vinification
The Highland Park distillery is located on the Orkney Islands off the northernmost tip of Scotland. Their whiskeys, as well as their island home, are shaped by the wild climate, the stormy seas and the Vikings, who settled here over 1,000 years ago and left their mark on people and culture. Magnus Eunson, founder of Highland Park was a direct descendant of the Vikings. Butchers and church workers by day, smugglers by night, he distilled in a small hut near High Park with a view of Kirkwall — where the distillery still stands today. Officially, Highland Park was founded in 1798, but in reality this was the year in which the authorities were finally able to catch Magnus — whiskey had already been made before that. With the exception of smuggling, very little has changed since then. Highland Park remained true to its founder's high quality standards and shares with him his bold and uncompromising approach. In fact, you could say that Highland Park is a whiskey made the old way by a new generation of Vikings. The five pillars of Highland Park are: aromatic peat, hand-malted barley, sherry oak barrels, cool storage, barrel harmonization.
