About the wine
Swiss Jack Schlatter once emigrated to the Napa Valley out of a passion for wine and took over the management of the Merryvale winery, founded in 1933. Under his management, the winery achieved worldwide fame and success. Today, his son René Schlatter continues the tradition, with Cabernet Sauvignon remaining the most important grape variety. The family's Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon is a prime example of its kind and offers enjoyment for every occasion — and at an unbeatable price!

Tasting note
Dark garnet with ruby red reflections and an opaque center. The bouquet reveals deep aromas of black berries, accompanied by crushed Tasmanian peppercorns and Brazilian tobacco. Behind it, there are fine notes of cassis, dark precious wood and tarragon. On the palate, the wine is elegant with a soft texture, juicy fullness and balanced, medium-bodied race. The finely tuned finale expresses aromas of wild cherries, red plums, cloves and a subtle astringency.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with starters such as house pâté or wild terrines, dark mushroom sauces, stews and dark poultry such as duck or guinea fowl. It is also ideal with steak options, grilled meat and semi-hard and hard cheeses such as Sbrinz or mountain cheese.
