About the wine
The oenologist and estate manager Fabrizio Bindocci has always extracted Brunello Riserva from the same vineyard, one of the oldest of the Azienda Il Poggione. It is Vigna Paganelli, which was already planted in the early sixties. Whenever it was a good to very good year, a selection of the best grapes was obtained there, which, after pressing and aging in wooden barrels for three to four years, produced an excellent riserva. It is a wine that, whenever offered by Il Poggione, is decorated with the highest awards and yet does not stand out in terms of price. From the 2003 vintage, it will now also bear the name of the vineyard: Vigna Paganelli.

Tasting note
Presented in an intense ruby red. On the nose, complex aromas of ripe red fruits, black cherries, tobacco and spicy notes develop, accompanied by a touch of leather and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with strong yet elegant tannins and a fresh acidity that gives it structure. The finish is long and complex, with fine mineral nuances and a subtle woody note.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with braised beef, lamb chops or game dishes such as venison ragout or venison leg. It is also an excellent choice with aged cheeses such as Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano as well as with truffle dishes. The wine goes perfectly with pasta with strong meat sauces or mushroom dishes.
