About the wine
Take the Barolo grape variety and process it like an Amarone. This is roughly the recipe for Sforzato, the specialty wine from Valtellina. Everything is done by hand on the ancient terraces around Sondrio. The fruits from the rustic terrain meet modern winemaking in the cellar of the Plozza wine house. Great “alpine amarone”!

Tasting note
Garnet red color. Rustic and tight start. With the scent of canned cherries, raisins and gingerbread spices. The palate is followed by dense wild berry and wood aromas, as well as a fresh nuttiness. Despite its high alcohol content (15% by volume), tasty and down-to-earth. A concentrated, spicy Nebbiolo with dense flesh.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with game, red meat, aged cheeses, barbecues.
Vinification
The grapes for the Sforzato are spread on wooden grates and dried for 3 to 4 months. At the beginning of January, the grapes are pressed and fermented in steel tanks. The aging is then carried out in large wooden barrels.
