About the wine

With the snappy Nebbiolo 2017 — Barolo Capalot DOCG, nuances and accents are redefined. Picturesque and blooming landscapes of Piedmont give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Crissante Alessandria conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Nebbiolo with truffle risotto or burrata.

Tasting note
This Barolo shines in an intense garnet red with orange reflections. On the nose, scented aromas of wild strawberries, black cherries, blood orange, rose petals, sandalwood and some tobacco inspire. On the palate, the wine is in perfect balance with juicy fruit, aromatic spiciness, fine-grained tannins and a silky acid structure. An “extroverted” Barolo of great elegance, who is great fun to drink at a young age but also has immense aging potential.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with Piedmontese specialities, ossobuco, pasta, hearty meat dishes, cheese
Vinification
The Nebbiolo grapes for this Barolo come from the south-east location of Capalot, which is located south of the La Morra hill and has a limestone soil with fine sand. The vines were planted in 1951. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels before maturing further in steel tanks and bottled in August of the third year after harvesting and further refining there.
