About the wine

Sixty-three members are currently organized in Cantina Produttori. They cultivate almost 100 hectares of vineyards, mostly in the best locations in Barbaresco. These include Crus Asilli, Rabajá, Montestefano, Pajé and Rio Sordo. As at the beginning almost 50 years ago, only one grape variety is cultivated: Nebbiolo. It is made into Barbaresco DOC, Riserva and Nebbiolo Langhe, and Riserva wines are only released in particularly good years... The wines of the Barbaresco cooperative have always been a faithful reflection of the region, the soil and the artisanal tradition. They beguile with diverse fruit notes, a wealth of aromas, they are surprisingly long-lasting and still inexpensive.

Vinification
This Barbaresco is a full-bodied and intense wine with a classic and elegant profile that has been aged in barrels for 20 months. Aromas of currants, raspberries and undergrowth as well as a soft, round and polished taste are the characteristics of this Barbaresco with an excellent price-performance ratio. acidity 5.2 g/l; The 2019 vintage will be remembered because it developed decidedly “normally.” The farming year began slowly as winter lasted into February, which led to a delay in the spring season. This in turn resulted in a period of rain and low temperatures until mid-March. Nonetheless, the resumption of vegetation was regular: The abundant rainfall in April ensured a slow start on the one hand, but also a considerable accumulation of water in the soil, which also compensated for the low rainfall in winter. The changeable weather conditions with low average temperatures persisted throughout the month of May, which confirms a delay of around two weeks compared to the vegetation pattern of previous years, but is in line with a more usual trend. The high temperatures in June and the high availability of water in the soil created the conditions for rapid vegetative development. This required great attention from winemakers to curb any phytosanitary problems. The hottest period of the season was recorded between the last week of June and the first week of July, followed by days when milder temperatures alternated with rain events. At the end of July, there was the second heat wave of the summer, which ended with sometimes severe thunderstorms, but did not cause any damage to the vines. The rest of the summer season was characterized by mild weather with sporadic and regular rainfall. The month of September showed a fluctuating but positive trend in the maturation of Nebbiolo. The first week was rather cold and grey, the second was perfect with clear skies and a good temperature range between day and night, the third was mostly warm, and the last days of the month and the beginning of October were again ideal with warm days and cool nights.
