When Alfredo and Mariano Buglioni bought a few old walls and a plot of land with overgrown vines in 1993, no one of the two textile entrepreneurs really knew what to do with them. The first harvest was therefore more of a happy autumn festival with friends than a professional start to winemaking. Father and son Buglioni — in contrast to their successful textile company with over 30 stores throughout Italy — had no experience with vines and winemaking. But that should change. With great ambition, passion and the support of outstanding employees who spared no effort and always sought the best solution, success soon came. The vineyard was then expanded and partially replanted — according to modern criteria, but always loyal to the local grape varieties. The newly built business with a wine press and extension cellar will be moved into shortly. The hall, which is used to dry the grapes in a controlled manner — the basis for the various Amarone cuvées, Ripasso and in some cases also the other Valpolicella wines, takes up a lot of space. The Amarone Classico della Valpolicella “Il Lussurioso” shows an opulent bouquet, clearly defined by fresh fruit and spicy notes that are reminiscent of candied fruit and gingerbread. The aromas unfold in an almost endless array of delightful nuances, while the wine is luxuriously rich and harmonious on the palate — with a long, elegant finish.
