About the wine
The traditional Petrolo winery is located in the middle of Tuscany between Florence and Arezzo and is one of the very few that has consistently received top marks from all renowned Italian wine critics for years. The vines stand at an altitude of between 250 and 450 meters above sea level. The Galestro soils are typical of the Apennine region of Tuscany. Since the Middle Ages, the estate was owned by the famous Tuscan dynasty Galatrona, of whose buildings the ancient tower is still preserved today. Today, Petrolo is run by the fourth generation of the Bazzocchi-Sanjust family.
Tasting note
Brilliant garnet red. On the nose, aromas of plums and sour cherries, underlined by subtle tobacco nuances. On the palate, the torrione is well balanced, the delicate tannins combine wonderfully with notes of red fruits and licorice on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The perfect drinking temperature for red wine is a slightly chilled 16°-18°C.
