Soft and complex Benriach The Original Ten, our flagship, best embodies the cha-racteristic soft, fruity and complex character of BenRi-ach. Inspired by the tasty character and body of the first single malt from Benriach in 1994, The Original Ten continues a large tradition of the 10-year-old Speyside single malt from Benriach. Benriach The Original Ten is made from three whiskies aged for at least ten years in bourbon barrels, sherry barrels and virgin oak barrels. The whiskey from each barrel is then expertly blended together to create layers of lush orchard fruit, lush honey malt, and roasted oak, all interwoven with a subtle smoke trail. The perfect introduction to our distinctive style and richly layered Speyside single malt.
Vinification
In the heart of Speyside A Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that is as fascinating and unusual as Benriach would have been inconceivable without a unique whiskey heritage from 1898, when founder John Duff set up his distillery. Benriach stands on the site of the old Riach farm in northern Speyside and draws water from a mineral-rich groundwater reservoir deep below the distillery. Thanks to a long-standing tradition of distilling whiskey — classic unpeated, Highland peated and triple distilled — and a unique selection of barrels from around the world, whiskey makers are able to explore the full flavor options of single malt and produce some of the richest, most complex whiskeys in Speyside. That tradition continues today under the leadership of Master Blender, Rachel Barrie. Benriach is the story of a hidden Speyside gem that quietly reveals its treasures to discover and enjoy.
