About the wine
The old Chenin Blanc vine, planted in a hidden curve with a view of the valley, grows with calm strength and minimal intervention. In 2016, a new vineyard was created in deeply decomposed granite soils high on the slopes of the Simonsberg. Grapes from these two sites balance each other out and give the wine depth and complexity.

Tasting note
This Chenin Blanc opens with aromas of fresh linden blossom, honeydew melon and green apple. The aromas are balanced by fine mineral aromas that come from the rocky slopes of the Simons Mountains, where the wine is grown.
Vinification
Unique large-format concrete containers are used to ferment and mature Chenin Blanc. These concrete vessels allow wine to develop nuances and complexity without imparting oak aroma. The wine is fermented with wild yeast populations and left on the fine yeast for 9 months, stirring regularly to develop fullness and depth. The name “Sur Lie” refers to this extensive yeast storage.
