Tuscany is best known around the world for wines made from the Sangiovese grape – classics such as Chianti Classico or Brunello di Montalcino. Yet for several decades another grape variety has been demonstrating just how much potential lies in the region’s soils and climate: Merlot. Some of Italy’s most famous and expensive wines are in fact pure Merlots from Tuscany, including Masseto and Redigaffi.
Tuscan Merlot is typically characterised by juicy, dark fruit with aromas of cherry and plum, complemented by subtle spice and a soft, silky texture. The Atos Corte Medicea shows exactly this character. The wine is both powerful and harmonious, with ripe fruit, delicate spice notes and a beautifully smooth structure.
Behind Corte Medicea is an experienced team that belongs to the winery Tenuta La Bollina. With Atos they demonstrate how convincingly Merlot can express itself in Tuscany. Particularly pleasing: the wine has been extremely well received by our customers – not least thanks to its outstanding value for money.
