About the wine
Castello di Fonterutoli, located in the middle of Chianti Classico, has been owned by the Mazzei family for almost 600 years and has grown over the centuries into a fantastic 650 ha farm, including 100 ha of vineyards. The Mazzei family attaches great importance to their very important cultural heritage, but they also know from history that you have to keep up with the times. They are wines with a clear signature and origin, which are happy to reach out to both the connoisseur and the layman. In addition to 98 James Suckling and Falstaff points, this year was awarded 96 Decanter points.

Tasting note
Intense ruby red in the glass, it develops a bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries, fine spices and hints of chocolate. Dense and powerful on the palate, it shows a wonderful balance between ripe fruit, silky tannins and refreshing acidity. A wine with elegance and depth that lingers for a long time.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with braised game, truffle dishes or mature hard cheese.
Vinification
The grapes come from the historic Siepi vineyard, which has stood for top quality for centuries. After selective manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which are new, to promote structure and complexity.
