About the wine
It is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, which are called Chiavennasca in the region. The grapes are carefully selected and stored for 3 months in special rooms called “fruttai”, to ensure an alcohol content of over 14.5% vol. The drying of the grapes leads to a reduction in acidity and the formation of very special aromas, which make the Sforzato a wine that stands out from all other wines in Valtellina and has a remarkable structure, roundness and longevity. The wine with the controlled and guaranteed designation of origin “Sforzato di Valtellina” or “Sfursat di Valtellina” can be marketed after a maturation and refinement period of 2 months, of which at least 12 months in wooden barrels.
