About the wine
The Franceschi family's Il Poggione winery is located in the picturesque hamlet of S. Angelo in Colle, surrounded by extensive vineyards, pine forests, arable and pasture land. It is one of the oldest companies in Montalcino and at the same time one of the pioneers of today's Brunello di Montalcino, whose consistently high level of quality continues to establish Il Poggione's fame.

Tasting note
The Franceschi family's IL Poggione winery is located in the countryside, at the foot of the picturesque hamlet of S. Angelo in Colle, surrounded by extensive vineyards, pine forests, fields and pastures. In addition to the great Brunello and Brunello Riserva wines, IL Poggione also produces a wonderful red wine from the grapes of the young Brunello vines and a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, both of which were once grown out of pure experimentation. The combination is delightful, Brunello carries the berry aromas, the Cabernet Sauvignon provides the good framework and the Merlot brings soft melts and supports the full-bodied harmony on the palate.

Goes well with lamb, beef, veal, venison, pork, grilled meat.
