Sassicaia is the Italian cult wine par excellence, maturing in barriques and bewitching with scents of black berries, smoke and eucalyptus. Like Amarone, but better. Tasting note
Dark ruby with purple reflections. Appealing and elegant nose. The aromas are complex and delicate. Black berries, cassis, a cool spice. This is accompanied by notes of roasted wood, but also shades of smoke and eucalyptus. Compact and juicy on the palate. Present, densely woven and easy-to-grip tannin of the highest quality. An impressive balancing act of power and elegance. Rich fruit and lots of taste, ending in a lasting finale.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with lamb and game as well as with top Italian dishes.
Vinification
The grapes are delivered from various vineyards above the village of Bolgheri and carefully sorted according to quality. The gentle squeezing is followed by maceration in stainless steel tanks for around 15 days. The young wine is then aged in French barriques for 24 months. In late autumn, the wine is bottled, where it rests for another year.
