About the wine
Like its older brother Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino is also made from Brunello grapes. The difference lies in the age of the vines, in the location of the vineyard, but is also caused by the selection of the grapes, in such a way that Brunello - decidedly powerful, with a stately tannin structure - has a high shelf life and requires a longer maturation period in order to even mature for drinking. The Rosso is different: It is a bit easier, accessible even in his youth. And like all wines from Antonio Mastrojanni, it is characterized by clear expression, great typicity and balance.

Tasting note
The vines are planted on unusually steep slopes facing southeast and south. It is undoubtedly the above-average dryness of the soil (natural drainage) that gives Mastrojanni wines their exceptional concentration. In addition to the large Brunello and Lagen-Brunello, the Azienda Mastrojanni produces a Rosso di Montalcino of incomparable power and intensity from the younger vines. The fullness on the palate is barely inferior to a good Brunello. The soft finish makes it accessible and very pleasing.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Rosso di Montalcino DOC passt hervorragend zu Pizza, Pasta und Rindfleisch. Der Wein sollte in diesem Zeitraum genossen werden: Bis 2022.
