About the wine
Christmas 2019 is just around the corner! Make the most of it with this provocative Merlot 2016 — Rodal Pla. The winemaker from the Spanish winery Mortitx grows this wine in the Balearic Islands countryside. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Merlot with duck or slightly spicy red meat.

Tasting note
Intense dark red color. On the nose, this wine shows spicy aromas (pepper), which are wonderfully accompanied by tobacco and black fruit jam (amarena cherries, blackberries). On the palate, the Rodal Pla is wonderfully soft, juicy and balanced. The aftertaste has a pleasant spiciness.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with any good meal, but especially with beef and lamb, and with mature cheese. Tip: What delicious beef from a smoker is a treat for the palate..
Vinification
The grapes used are picked by hand and fermented separately. The maceration phase lasts 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the grape variety. It is then aged in French barriques for 6 months.
