About the wine

The name, the 37 hectare individual site, is probably derived from the outline. With its round shape, this is reminiscent of the Palatinate kitchen classic. The vineyard achieved international fame for its distinctive and very distinctive wines. They are created by the unique terroir and wineries, which recognized the great potential and meticulously worked out the location character. The deep and less fertile soils consist primarily of limestone marl and loess clay. The vines for our Saumagen are located in a steep central section and are around 20 years old.
