About the wine
Even the Romans knew what great wines were produced here and in the 3rd century they built vineyards in the steep slate slopes that still exist today and a villa complex on the historic Van Volxem s winery. Today, Roman Niewodniczanski and his team build on this rich tradition. Aware of the uniqueness of their history and locations combined with the necessary innovative spirit, they create wines from vines, some of which are over 120 years old, which are unrivalled in terms of excitement and expression. With their pure, precise handwork, a return to traditional craftsmanship and respect for the surrounding nature, that goosebumps are guaranteed!

Vinification
Low average yields and selective hand harvesting. The grapes are gently pressed and then spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks using wild yeasts. When stored on fine yeast in wooden barrels for ten to eleven months, the wine gains additional complexity and creaminess. The wine is bottled without fining. All Van Volxem wines are vegan. No fining agents or wine treatment agents are used that have animal ingredients or are of animal origin.
