The company Sogevinus Fine Wines, through its traditional Kopke house, manages the Quinta de São Luiz winery, which is located in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Portuguese Douro Valley. The estate, surrounded by white-painted walls that accentuate the slate terraces and the long winemaking tradition, pursues a clear vision: to combine heritage with innovation. Vinhas Velhas, which literally means “old vines,” is a red wine from a small plot of over 50-year-old vines within the Quinta. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, carefully vinified and aged. The wine is characterized by limited production, a profound, elegant structure and the authentic expressiveness of its shale origin in the Douro.
