Tasting note
In the 18th century, monks from Montserrat Monastery were exiled to “Els Deterrats” to atone for their sins. The area was known for its severe climate and the difficult living conditions there. However, it was the task of the monks to make the soils fertile. They have discovered a new terroir and a wine full of character. According to legend, large barrels full of wine disappeared again and again over the years — some claimed that it was angels who flew them to heaven. Torres Purgatori is a textbook example of a Mediterranean red wine. Impenetrable black red. Profound and intense scent of dark walberry jam, dried flowers, cigar boxes, coffee, whiskey and asphalt. Extremely juicy and with the finest fruit on the tongue, slightly creamy and not masty with fresh acidity. Good, solid structure with fine tannins without appearing dry. Great drinking age with storage potential for a few more years.
