Tasting note
The wine is intensely purple. The nose is complex and elegant with floral notes of violets, which are finely interwoven with aromas of graphite, blackberries, black cherries and licorice. On the palate, you can immediately see the incredible potential of the wine, which shows a great aromatic concentration and a lot of excitement. The balance is remarkable, no component dominates. The sweetness is perfectly integrated and the tannin is powerful but very fine-grained. The aftertaste is long and spicy and is supported by a pleasant acidity that provides the necessary freshness.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand and stomped with their feet in granite basins called lagares using the traditional method. The wine was then transferred to large wooden barrels and stored in the Douro Valley over the winter. In spring 2023, it was transported to Vila Nova de Gaia to finish maturing.
