Tasting note
This dark purple crusted port delights the nose with expressive aromas of black berries, sweet flowers, dried fruit, tobacco and some chocolate. On the palate, on the other hand, lots of sweet fruit, a deep spiciness, a full body, smooth tannins and a wonderful juiciness. A great crusted port that can easily compete with a large vintage port and has just been rated by Decanter with a sensational 96/100 points.
Vinification
In contrast to vintage port wine, Crusted Port allows different vintages to be mixed. This gives the winemaker the opportunity to combine different vintage characteristics in order to obtain an exciting young wine. The year of bottling is then classically written on the bottle. Otherwise, the wine is produced like a vintage port and bottled unfiltered. There is a sentence (crust) in the bottle. It is therefore recommended to decant the bottle before consumption
