About the wine
This distinctive Mencia 2016 — Pizarras de Otero Bierzo DO crowns every festive meal with elegance and finesse. Picturesque and magnificent landscapes of the Duero Valley (Castilla y Leon) give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Spanish winery Martín Códax conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience. Flaschenpöstler culinary tip: This mencia is excellent with meat dishes with dark sauce and vegetables or risotto.

Tasting note
Deep cherry red with purple shimmer. On the nose, there is an expressive, varietal bouquet with aromas of wild berries, plum and cherry, accompanied by floral notes such as violets and a fine mineral undertone. Balanced and fresh on the palate, with a clear fruit profile, lively structure and a long, harmonious finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat, carpaccio, jerky and goat cheese.
