About the wine

Johann Gottlob Lindner and his wife Maria Rosine John laid the foundations of the Lindner family in Australia, who came from Silesia to the coast of South Australia in 1845 to settle in the Barossa Valley. There is something very special about Barossa. You can feel it in the landscape, the people, the food and the wine. It is a beautiful region with villages, vineyards and farms. The Barossans are famous for their generous hospitality, their love of a shared table, and their passion for local food and wine. There are festivals, festivals, markets and music here all year round. Barossa is the greatest pleasure of living in a unique place. Wine and viticulture have also been part of the way of life in the Barossa since 1842. Today, Barossa is home to more than 550 winegrowers, many of whom are still in their sixth generation working on the same property and delivering their quality grapes to more than 170 wine companies. Including to Langmail. Langmeil has also been part of the Barossa landscape since 1842, i.e. right from the start. The current owner Richard Lindner and his wife Shirley Della-Mina form the 5th Lindner generation. All ancestors were butchers or small goods manufacturers. A small farm was also often run to set the table every day. In 1996, it was Richard Lindner's decision that the part-time grape growing business should not remain a backyard business. Together with two local colleagues, he bought the abandoned Langmeil property. Today, sons Paul and James are also in the starting blocks and are committed to the inheritance as guardians of Langmeil Winery. What is the family's recipe for success? It is probably exactly the combination of Richard's Silesian origin and Shirley's Italian dowry. Diligence and community spirit are at the heart of this family's work ethic. Plus the undeniable love for food, wine, family and friends. The aim in the vineyard and in the winery is to produce extraordinary things. Wines that are among the best in the world, including wines that everyone can afford.

Tasting note
Our wine recommendation for game: enchanting scent of excellent Australian Shiraz. Color: Deep purple with purple reflections Scent: An enchanting scent of red and black fruits, herbs and cedar, with hints of sage, chocolate and spicy notes. Taste: Highly ripe raspberries and juicy plums fill the mouth, very rich with lots of spices. Despite all its complexity, it is very juicy and elegant, balanced with fine, ripe tannins. A great wine! Orphan Bank is proof of Langmeil's commitment to preserve old and rare Barossa vineyards. Ten rows of Shiraz, which were planted before 1860, were rescued and transplanted from a contractor's bulldozer. They were given a new home next to the original Langmeil vineyard on the banks of the Para River. We called these ten lines the “orphans” who have found a new home after 150 years. The average vine age of the vineyard is 87 years +.
