About the wine
Poliziano is the undisputed top producer in Montepulciano. The owner and winemaker is Federico Carletti, who, together with his oenologist Carlo Ferrini, optimized vinification in the eighties and made a name for himself in the first guard of Italy. Carletti acquired Lohsa in the 90s and completely replanted the vineyards with Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Alicante, Malvasia Nera and Cabernet Sauvignon. The name Poliziano goes back to the Renaissance poet Angelo Ambrogini (1454-1494), who was born in Montepulciano and worked as a teacher and poet in Florence under the name “Il Poliziano”.

Tasting note
Shiny ruby red with blue reflections, fruity-berry bouquet with distinct cherry scent and light vanilla tone. Very juicy and fresh on the palate, it's really fun to drink.
Culinary recommendation
Ideal accompaniment to pasta and simple Mediterranean meat dishes and young cheese.
Vinification
Temperature-controlled fermentation at 18-20° C for 15-20 days in steel tanks, then aged for eight months in used barriques and large French oak barrels (500 l).
