About the wine
The Azienda Agricola Fontefico is located near the seaside resort of Vasto, right on the Adriatic Sea in the wine-growing region of Abruzzo. The estate is spread over 15 hectares of land, on which 3 hectares are planted with vines. The range of grape varieties ranges from the well-known Montepulciano to Aglianico and the white specialty pecorino. Since 1996, brothers Nicola and Emanuele Altieri have been managing the winery with dedication and passion. Dealing with nature is extremely important to them; organic farming is a top priority.
Tasting note
Dark, bright red. On the nose, aromas of red fruits such as cherry and blackberry. A pleasant freshness on the palate. Juicy fruit notes. Spicy notes of black pepper and licorice. Long finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with tomato, pepperoncini and pecorino sauce. Abruzzo cuisine often combines the taste of the sea and the mountains in one dish, “Mare e Monti”.
