About the wine
The Matasci company was founded in 1921 by Giuseppe Matasci and Carlo Balemi. Today, the third generation is already involved, and thanks to a new expansion in 1987, the Matasci company is one of the largest producers in Ticino. With his Selezione d'Ottobre, Matasci has made Ticino's Merlot known and loved in German-speaking Switzerland. The Merlot grape variety comes from the Bordeaux region. After years of studies, it was found that Merlot adapts best to the Ticino climate.
