About the wine

Bartolomeo Racca acquired the Montanello estate in 1864. As the seat of the Langhe winegrowers' cooperative, they began to produce and sell the first Barolo. For five generations, the Montanello estate, located in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo wine region, has been owned by the Racca family and is now managed by Alberto Racca and sisters Maria Pia and Cristina. 11 ha of vineyards cover the property. From the outset, the hill in Montanello was regarded as one of the best growing areas in Barolo. Thanks to the composition of the soil and its optimal southern, southwestern and western location, the grapes can benefit optimally from the climatic conditions. Alberto Racca is an ambitious young winemaker who respects the traditions but is open to everything new in wine science.
