About the wine
Bodegas Atalaya is located in the small D.O. Almansa in Meseta, Spain. It is led by Frank Gonzales, an Australian oenologist with Spanish roots. The winery was only refounded in 2007, but has 25 ha of vines with mostly very old vines of the Garnacha Tintorera variety typical of Almansa.

Tasting note
The color is intense, lively red with purple reflections. Rich and full on the palate, fairly balanced, somewhat warming, long-lasting with nice chocolate and tobacco notes. Hardly unbeatable level of quality in this price range.
Vinification
The mostly very old vines are cultivated in typical, very extensive bush cultivation at 700 - 1000 m above sea level, on very calcareous soils. Harvested by hand, fermented on mash, aged in barriques for 12 months. Free from animal products - vegan certified.
