Color: With its deep and intense amber coloring, which is slightly reminiscent of mahogany, the X.O. is significantly darker than the rest of our collection. Aroma: The scent of candied fruit combined with a subtle, slightly spicy nose gives X.O. its unmistakable aroma. Taste: X.O. has a strong yet mild tonality with a hint of cocoa and a warm, fruity presence followed by an enormous length.
Tasting note
X.O. (Extra Old) is the result of craftsmanship that has been honed over a century. The strong eaux-de-vie in this blend achieve roundness over time - the result is a strong, rich cognac. As an icon of Hennessy, X.O. has remained unchanged since its creation. A selection of around 100 of the best eaux-de-vie was carefully selected and aged to create this elegant blend.
Vinification
What distinguishes X.O. from other assemblages is the aging process. The eaux-de-vie mature for at least ten years, mostly in French oak barrels. Because the wood emits tannin, cognac develops a uniquely satisfying character full of robustness, fullness and exceptional durability.
