About the wine
Stefan Wellanschitz from Neckenmarkt shows the diversity of Burgenland with the wines from Kolfok and works at the limit of possibilities. On the one hand, there are the very different soils, but also the different microclimate zones, which provide plenty of room for winemaking. In Burgenland dialect, the Kolfok is a character or type who goes against common conventions and has his own mind. Stefan doesn't want to bottle “made wines,” but wants to be a humble observer and companion and gives his wines all the freedom they need. The wines are all spontaneously fermented, not pumped, untreated, unfiltered and bottled with minimal sulphurization.

Tasting note
The Güterweg Bodigraben-Orthogneis Blaufränkisch scent spectrum of spicy herbs skilfully flirts with your sense of smell. Afterwards, playful nuances of wild berries, red cherries and red currants resolutely and consciously impress your senses of taste. Heavy body and distinctive acidity result in red wine, which, balanced with fine tannins in the mouth, shows a lot of character and class. This top wine was awarded with: 94 Falstaff.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The ideal drinking temperature for red wine is a slightly chilled 14°-16°C. The recommended drinking phase of this wine is in the following period: Now until 2025.
