About the wine

The winery is run by Johann and Monika and their two sons Thomas and Florian. The vineyards (15 ha) are spread over a length of six kilometers from Wösendorf to Unterloiben. The Grüner Veltliner variety is cultivated on around 60 percent of the vineyards, followed by Riesling with around 30 percent. The range is completed with some Sauvignon Blanc, Yellow Muscat and White Burgundy. Careful and careful work in the vineyard and modern cellar technology guarantee high quality. The wines of the Schmelz family, which is a founding member of the VINEA WACHAU association, have received awards from many trade magazines and wine tastings. They deserve the description of wines with a certain SMELL. In 2005, Johann Schmelz was named Falstaff's Winemaker of the Year.
