About the wine
Elderton is a small estate by Australian standards in the heart of the Barossa Valley. It has been owned and run by the Ashmead family since the 1970s. 1982 was the first harvest and followed by 10 hard years of work until the winery won the Jimmy Watson Trophy in 1993. Since then, many other awards have followed, including the world's best Shiraz in 2000, and the reason for these successes and the outstanding quality of the Shiraz is due to the ancient vines planted by Samuel Elderton Tolley in 1904, which produce grapes of a quality that is second to none.

Vinification
The grapes are left hanging on the vine for 3 weeks, then picked, pressed and left on the skin for 3 days.
