About the wine
The La Massa winery in Panzano is a first-class Toscana address with Crus committed to the highest level of modern standards. The quality-fanatic owner Giampaolo Motta is a self-confident individualist and innovator, assisted in his creations by his friend, the renowned Bordeaux winemaker and winemaking consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. As a showpiece from La Massa, Giorgio Primo presents the essence of the best plots. It is aged in new barriques for 18 months. An impressively powerful, expressive wine, undoubtedly belonging to the elite of the Tuscan type, stylistically with a St-Emilion touch.
Tasting note
The Giorgio Primo is an intense, deep ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds with aromas of dark berries, such as blackberries and black currants, as well as a subtle note of cedarwood, spices and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-structured, with ripe tannins and a distinct freshness supported by elegant acidity. The aftertaste is long and shows aromas of chocolate and caramel.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with grilled meat, game dishes, strong pasta sauces and aged hard cheese.
Vinification
The grapes for Giorgio Primo are harvested by hand and carefully processed in the cellar. After prolonged maceration, it is aged in French barriques, where the wine remains for around 18 months.
