About the wine
The Burgenländer Weingut Heinrich is one of the flagship addresses par excellence for great Austrian red wine. Heike and Gernot Heinrich's superior line is based on independence, naturalness nourished by biodynamic ideas, and modern wine aesthetics. Salzberg is Heinrichs' outstanding vineyard wine, an internationally sought-after cult wine made from Merlot, Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. It comes from the perfectly oriented, gently rising vineyard right in front of the Heinrichs state-of-the-art winery. It earns its excellent reputation thanks to concentrated, multi-layered fruit, depth, impressive extract and distinctive structure.

Tasting note
Still a bit subdued, fine black wild berry jam, a touch of licorice, heart cherries, subtle herbal spice. Complex, firm texture, with a fine touch of nougat on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat with hearty sauces, grilled meat and game fowl, risotto and pasta, as well as hard and soft cheeses.
Vinification
12 months of barrique; 60% new and 40% used barrels.
