About the product
We owe the discovery that delicious liqueurs can be produced from wild hazelnuts through distillation to the monks of Piedmont, who developed the original recipe for Frangelico over 300 years ago. The distillate from the regional hazelnut variety Tonda Gentile is combined with extracts and distillates of cocoa beans, vanilla beans, roasted coffee beans and other flavorings. This concentrate, mixed with pure alcohol, sugar and water, matures for six to eight weeks before it is filled into the distinctively shaped bottles, which are said to be reminiscent of a Franciscan monk. Frangelico can be drunk as a shot, on ice or as a refreshing soda & lime.
